"I hope it's a big enough event that it gets people out who aren't already experiencing the little underground comedy movement we have in Fargo," Gordon says, naming off Adam Quesnell and J.D. Zeis was part of Linebenders before moving to Chicago, and Gordon thinks a success with Friday's show will open doors for all local comic venues and entertainers. Headliner Eric Griffin has performed on HBO and Showtime while supporters Adam Ray has been featured on MTV and Adam Hunter appeared on "Last Comic Standing."įargo's improv troupe Linebenders will perform 10- to 15-minute sets before and after the intermission, and Bismarck's Jeff Allen also has a first-act slot at the festival.Īll of which means the only Fargo solo comedian in the Fargo Comedy Festival is the organizer, Zeis, which he admits has led to some grumbling in the local stand-up community. Zeis says contacts are everything in comedy, and he's called on his friends and colleagues to help with the Fargo Comedy Festival. "Comedy is definitely something hard to break in to," he says.
